Tomatoes anyone?

I have certainly done well with our cherry tomato plants this year. Our big boy has yielded a few as well. We have more than we can eat right away. My husband and I and my son seem to be the only ones that really like tomatoes. They make a great snack right out of the fridge, or tossed in my salad at dinner, but since my tooth extraction I have been limited, and no one else seems to be picking up the slack. Also with all the tomatoes I was eating before my wisdom teeth came out, I have been developing canker sores from I think too much acid from the tomatoes. I think I might have to start sharing...lol.... Tomatoes anyone?

Command Boat Family Day Picnic

Hot and steamy, all I can say..... This is one of the boats John patrols on when overseas and practices with when here. They allowed family to ride today, only going about 5 knots... Lexie was to young to ride so she stayed behind with daddy. The boat ride only lasted about 15 fifteen minutes, and they sure are loud.

And were off. . . . .

UPDATE

It looks like I could be in it for the long haul on my numbness on my face. The doctor I saw today, said it could take up to nine months or even longer before it would get better. He wasn't talking surgery at all, didn't seem concerned with having to do it. He said my x-rays showed everything still intact, which gives reason to believe that over time the numbness will decrease.

On a better note, Alexandria is finally enrolled in school! It's been a mess getting her records here, and shot records found, and getting them caught up apparently. I didn't realize I had missed her four year shots last year, shame on me..... She is ready to go! Two more weeks, and school starts!

The Pro's and Con's of wisdom teeth removal

Con: plain and simple, it will hurt.
Pro:.......pro......hhhmmm
Con: Swollen face for a few days.
Pro:.....Pro.......nope, still nothing....
Con: constant pain medication.

I have evaded dentists for years when it came to pulling my wisdom teeth, they weren't bothering me why should I bother them? But finally my current dentist said they needed to come out... They were impacted, all partially through, except for one, which can be a major problem sometime if I didn't get them out.... Well that didn't go so well yesterday.

No one was counting on that I would be the 1-5% that would end up with nerve damage... at least according to him when I had to go back and see him today because half of my face is still numb, he said I was his first case, great! So I will be seeing another doctor tomorrow, and find out what will be done, or can be done. I ended up only getting two on my right side pulled as it was, thankful for that now. My teeth were not what he expected at all, he said. My wisdom tooth on the top was bigger on the top portion then on the bottom. And my bottom tooth could be used as a fishing hook to go fishing with! Which of course was wrapped around bone, making it more of challenge to remove.

Looks like if the numbness does not heal that I could be facing surgery to repair the nerve damage. He told me they will be closely watching me for the next 6 weeks

At this point all I can say is that they will have to tie me down if they think they will be pulling out the other two any time soon!

Baptism

Today was the Baptism. I very much enjoy the Chaplain's sermon and the service each week. This was a good experience for the kids and I to take together. I thought I was going to cry the whole time, watching my children get baptized.

I didn't realize all that was going to be seen was Lexie's poor little head. O'well still a good picture.

I have to brag!

Of course anytime I can brag about my kids, I do....which is almost every day if it were up to me.....

Today we finally received Elizabeth's SOL test scores back. In Virginia, for those who may not know, you are tested at the end of each year which determines if you get to move on to the next grade level in the subject you are tested in.

A score of 400 and above is passing, 500 or more means that the student passed the test at an advanced level. A 600 is a perfect score.

Elizabeth received a perfect score of 600 in math! On her History and Social Science she received a 589 only missing two questions, her reading only missing one question she received a 587. And her science missing four questions she received a 483. She said she didn't really particularly like science so much.

Anthony's scores weren't as great but his situation is turning out to be a bit more complicated. He did pass reading with a score of 504, but his Civics and Economics and Math were not passing. But as it may be turning out, since he did the K12 online virtual school program for 7th grade this last year, and I have thought from the beginning the standards were a bit higher then what he had experienced before, he might be in luck or a disadvantage.... depending on how you look at it, with entering back in the the public school system this year. Earlier this week he had to take a math test at the school he will be attending this next school year to have his math progress tracked throughout the year. When he completed the math for 8th grade level he told me he thought it was pretty easy and feels like he did a good job.... so what does that tell you.....It has me a little concerned with the Virginia standards. Especially since the math he was taking in 7th grade through K12 was a 6th grade level math according to K12.... you should have seen them!!!! Geometry just about kicked us in the rear!!!! but I always made sure that he understand the problems and anything he could not understand before we moved on to anything else, and if there was anything I didn't get I consulted his online teacher first before trying to teach him so that we weren't both confused. He even mentioned after the test the other day, that the K12 math would be better since it would be more challenging, that's how easy he thought the test was at the school....hhhmmmm

And then when I was talking to someone at his current school he will be attending this fall about his SOL scores, she told me that she didn't think that the school there even did Civics and Economics until the 8th grade. So he might be in luck with having to repeat it, he only missed passing by nine points, so he would be at an advantage for having taken it already and having to repeat it, it should come a little easier for him this next time.

So with Elizabeth passing as well as she did, and coming from homeschooling in the 2nd grade and from Florida before that to this.... I don't know if this means that she isn't challenged enough or if it is and she is just handling that well, that is great! But I will be talking to the school about it further. I have always said my kids were smart, and I tell them everyday.... though I think Lexie might be getting a little bit of a big head about it..... she asked me other day if she was a genius.... of course I told her YES!!!! What do you think??? LOL I can't wait for her to enter Kindergarten this year.....

Busch Gardens

Man, time flies, when your busy. It's so hard to find time to do anything that doesn't include keeping up a house, or kids. About two weeks go now, I guess it has been. We visited Busch Gardens. What a busy place....... We didn't venture on any of the big rides, the scary rides... which was fine, I was perfectly happy watching the kids on the smaller rides taking pictures.
