future room

Tuesday, January 31, 2012

ok, I finally located more of my "before" pictures that I wanted to post. My biggest challenge was finding a right angle to take pictures of the rooms in my house. A little more difficult then I thought, without cutting out a lot of the rooms in each shot. The exposures aren't all that great, needed lighting and or a bigger flash... and these are not what most of the rooms look like now... except painting, most of the rooms have been put together but these will make for a better "after" picture.
So the first picture is of my living room. It is smaller then the one we had in military housing.... but I was able to figure out an arrangement once I had the chance. The room will be a dark maroon color, with the family photos and my nature photography hanging on the wall with the maroon background is going to look nice.

The next image is of the playroom.

My kitchen-this room and my dining room will have a nautical theme to it. The colors for the dining room have already been picked out and bought, but haven't quite decided on the kitchen just yet. I didn't really want them the same.

The next room is a breakfast nook, my future crafting nook.

Elizabeth's room- she has decided she wants a midnight blue color with stars and a moon.

Wish I knew someone who could reach that and clean it.....

Cathedral ceilings in the entry way... makes it hard to keep clean and to reach to paint.

Our kitchen and living room face the back yard which I love! My little crafting nook has the perfect view!

Our yard is a decent size for the kids and my vegetable garden, I can't wait to get started on that this year.

A view of our neighborhood.

That is all I have for now... as I complete the rooms I will be posting them... so check back soon... the next room will be the living room to complete.

New House

I really need to work on keeping up with my blogging. It is so hard to find the time. Especially with the start of this new year, new house... and lots of work trying to unpack, figure out where everything is going to go...and deciding that the walls need new paint. I just do not care for all the shades of brown the previous owners had. So as I get the rooms completed, which is turning out to be a very slow process, I am going to post pictures of the work I complete. I am working on spackling places that need spackle, then sanding all the walls and finally painting them. Which is taking a lot of time to complete, but has been a fun process as well as trying to get the house unpacked, figuring out where everything is going to go,,,, and not liking it and redoing it.

I let the kids decide on colors they wanted for the playroom and their bedrooms. The game room is in a Robin egg's blue with a lighter blue trim. It turned our really nice.

I have already rearranged this room a little, to fit in a shelf for Lexie to use as her "pantry." Does anyone recognize this very tall book shelf? Dad should...New color, but same shelf, I thought it was time for it to have some new life, plus repainting it made it match the room a whole lot better and it turned out really nice.

Alexandria's room, she decided she wanted to have pink so we found at Home Depot a Disney paint collection. So we got two different shades of pink, a Sleeping Beauty and some other Disney one I can't remember the name. You want to talk pink.....it's pink. pinkalicious, even the ceiling is pink! Lexie's room is not quite done, I still need to finish the other side of her closet door and her bedroom door. But it was so much pink, I kinda burnt myself out... and needed a break.

I still have a few plaques that belong on this wall that I have not found yet.

And I think I need more pictures of the her room and not just her walls.
I have before pictures of most of the rooms, that I am going to post and then as the rooms are completed I will post after pictures. I thought I had taken before of the kids' gameroom, but can't seem to find out where they went. I can't say that I do not have anything to do. More pictures coming soon!

Day 10 of vacation 2011

Day 10:
Was spent with John's family, parents and his two brothers and a niece and two nephews.
We all loaded up and headed to the theater to watch the new Smurf's movie and then afterward headed to a small water park so the kids could play and keep cooled off.

I think the kids all had a blast spending time together.

Day 9 of vacation 2011

Day 9: Time to hit the road again and head towards Salina. But at least we made plenty of stops in different places which makes the trip not feel like we are spending the whole time in the van. Family to visit on the way up which included those that are not with us anymore.
After a few stops we headed to my grandparent's house in El Dorado, where we had some nice catching up to do since it had been almost 4 years since we had seen any family.

Afterward we headed over to my Aunt Micaela's and another good visit and dinner, thank you Aunt Micaela, before having to leave to finish our drive to Salina that evening.

Day 7 and 8 of vacation 2011

Day 7:
It mostly consisted of driving up to Kansas from Texas. We stopped off in San Antonio to visit the Alamo, a break from driving... then it was time to hit the road again.
We arrived in Ark City about eleven o'clock that night.

Day 8:
It was just a relax day in a way. We spent the day in Ark City. John took the kids to the swimming pool and I went to visit an old friend that my sister and I met in the first grade when we first moved to B Street in Arkansas City..... maybe I shouldn't say old friend, long time friend... Sorry KIM! LOL
I didn't get any pictures of the kids in Ark City at all liked I had planned, day just flew by... O'well next time.
