Snow makes for beautiful pictures, but I think we have all had about enough of it. Again I took the girls to Newport News park again for more pictures... This time I got them in front of the camera for a few shots... Not easy to do when it is cold out....

Here they are running back to the car.....

You can find more nature pictures on Things I Find Interesting Page....

Igloo, snow cave?

Well this was the best that I could do when it comes to snow forts, igloos.. what ever you might call it.

As you can see it wasn't all that big, it was a lot of work, a couple of hours or more just to do that! Talk about back pain! LOL kids loved it...

Finally got Anthony to make a snow angel... LOL

Another snow day for us.....

Here we are in the snow again today, the weather was a whole lot better today with the sun out, keeping you just warm enough to stay out longer and play in the snow my snowman making skills and snow forts must be very rusty..... of course I still think it was the snow, at least that is what I am going with... it was more packable today, but I just couldn't get it to roll and form a ball like I know I did when I was a kid! LOL
o'well.... at least the kids had fun trying!

I also tried taking photos of the field across the street, OH HOW I WISH I HAD A BETTER CAMERA!!!! The scene was just breath taking last night and this morning... with the lights hitting the snow as it did, I couldn't ask for a better view out my window.

Snow! January 30, 2010

Here we are in the snow today. The kids loved it, I loved seeing their faces light up this morning when they awoke to find it snowing..... Priceless.....

Poor Lexie would only for about five minutes at a time before her hands were too cold to play any longer.

Unfortunately the snow is light and fluffy it isn't any good for packing and making a snowman... we are hoping perhaps when the continuation of snow and the temperatures dropping that perhaps the snow can be more snowman, or snow queen as Lexie keeps correcting me, making snow.

This picture is of the Endview Plantation, if you can see it through all the snow.

They are predicting about 4-12 inches... which I think we are going to get very close to meeting that mark. I haven't seen snow like this in YEARS! I am just glad I do not have to get out in it for any reason.

New Year

What a busy start to the new year.... John is off on another deployment as most of you know. As it is always hard to say goodbye the kids do it quite well and have become pros at it. They are kept busy with school and projects at home to entertain them.

The girls on New Year’s Eve spent the afternoon making New Year crowns to wear that night.

This is how cold it has been here.....

Around Elizabeth's birthday I thought that I would make her a couple of high school musical plaques for her wall since I have been slowly updating her room to a more preteen look. I purchased wall stickers that are made to peel and stick to the wall, then peel off the wall and reposition and move around. I thought that they would look better and last longer on a plaque. Well, I ran into one small problem after I received them in the mail. The stickers of the characters are HUGE! They are about 15 inches tall, much taller than any plaque that I own. These things are huge... sooo instead I asked John to buy a big piece of plywood that would fit all of the characters and the extra stickers and such it came with. Elizabeth and I sat down and designed how she wanted the stickers to look. With so many of the smaller stickers, I decided that we would take an old table that used to be my mother’s that we have had for years and give it a more updated look; matching the table to the huge wall hanging that would soon be on her wall. Plus it needed a new job in our house.

So I sat to work, John helped by stripping off the old black paint that had been on the table before he left for deployment, then I repainted it to match the stickers.
I just wish I had remembered to take before pictures of the table, if any one remembers this tables from my mother’s house in Ark City it was completely black.

Then a couple of years ago Elizabeth brought in this little chair thing that someone she knew was going to throw out....seeing it's potential she brought it home to me to fix up, knowing that I could do it.... LOL.....
So with the start of this school year I am able to finally sit down and work on everything that has been patiently waiting for me.... So going from this.....

To this.........

Since this was something that Lexie was going to play with in her room, she provided me with the stickers she wanted on it and the colors that she wanted it to be; and this is what I came up with.

Now for my next project that I have started, well, restarting and determined to finish this time is the makeover of the kitchen set that my dad had built for my sister and I when we were kids.

Lexie rockin’ at the Winter Wonder Dance at her school this last Friday… no pictures of Elizabeth, she was busy running around with her friends.

Deployment 2010

Well two days after Christmas we sent John off on another deployment..... of course he had to be at the airport at six-thirty in the morning, which meant we had to leave our house at five-thirty, ugh, I will never understand why they leave and arrive so early.......so once again, it is just the kids and I for about the next 8 months.
